Ukraine will be 'big part' of Biden's participation in Ramstein - White House
US President Joe Biden's visit to Germany and participation in the Ramstein Group meeting will underscore deep commitment and resolute support for transatlantic security and Ukraine's self-defense, according to Karine Jean-Pierre, White House Press Secretary.
According to her, Biden's visit will symbolize the renewed partnership between the US and Germany and strengthen cooperation in addressing the most pressing global issues.
"This visit is going to underscore the deep commitment and that transatlantic security resolute support. If you think about Ukraine and the self-defense of Ukraine, that’s going to be a big part of this visit — and continuing that support, continuing to do everything that we can to stop the Russian aggression," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
She added that it is vital to continue the dialogue "as we see what’s going on in Ukraine, as we continue to see Russia’s aggression."
"You have seen the president’s (Biden - ed.) leadership when it comes to Ukraine and what he’s been able to do to make NATO stronger, to have more than 50 — 50 countries’ support to support Ukraine in their fight against that aggression of Russia. And so, that’s a big part — certainly, it will be a big part of that — of that trip," the White House press secretary noted.
Biden's visit to the Ramstein meeting
The Ramstein format is an international forum of countries united to coordinate and provide military assistance to Ukraine in its confrontation with Russian aggression. The forum is named after the US Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where the first meeting occurred in April 2022.
On Thursday, October 10, US President Joe Biden will travel to Germany, where he will meet with allied countries' leaders and participate in the upcoming Ramstein meeting.
Typically, such meetings involve defense ministers from partner countries. However, in September, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally attended the forum.
According to media reports, NATO countries may propose steps for Ukraine's accession to the Alliance at the upcoming Ramstein meeting.
Zelenskyy may also present Ukraine's victory plan to all partners in the war with Russia.
