Ukraine uses ATACMS missiles against Russians for the first time - WSJ
Today, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched ATACMS missiles at Russian forces, marking the first use of U.S.-provided weaponry in the war, according to The Wall Street Journal.
According to sources, a small number of these missiles were secretly sent to Ukraine in recent days. They are expected to boost Ukraine's capabilities to strike Russian forces at a critical stage of the counteroffensive.
"Ukraine has long requested ATACMS, a surface-to-surface missile that can strike deep in Russian territory and can be launched using HIMARS, which the U.S. has supplied to the country," the report states.
The effective range of the provided ATACMS models is approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers).
Nighttime strikes on Luhansk and Berdiansk airfields
Earlier, the UAF StratCom reported a series of strikes on enemy-controlled airfields in temporarily occupied Luhansk and Berdiansk overnight.
The Air Force states that the Russians are attempting to position their helicopters and tactical aviation closer to the front lines for their attacks. Therefore, targeting enemy equipment in the occupied Luhansk and Berdiansk is extremely important.
Later, Special Operations Forces reported that, as a result of the DRAGONFLY operation targeting enemy airfields in temporarily occupied Luhansk and Berdiansk, nine Russian helicopters, an anti-aircraft unit, an ammunition depot, and much more were destroyed.
