Ukraine urges Hungary to end immoral manipulations over Christmas ceasefire
Hungary needs to stop the immoral manipulation of the Christmas ceasefire. It undermines efforts to establish a just peace, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The Ministry emphasized that statements by Hungarian officials about their ability to end the war "do not reflect reality". After Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's “peacekeeping” calls to Moscow, missiles and drones are striking Ukraine.
"The actions of the Hungarian side are even further removed from peacekeeping than its statements," the Ministry added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recalled that Hungary calls for leaving Ukraine without weapons for self-defense, obstructs funding for strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and hampers increasing sanctions pressure against Russia.
"We urge the Hungarian side to cease its immoral manipulations regarding peace and Christmas, and to refrain from unilateral contacts with the aggressor state that undermine collective efforts to restore a just peace," the Ministry noted.
The Ministry also pointed out that only Russia and its war-obsessed President Vladimir Putin are the only obstacles to peace.
Orbán's scandalous statement
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that he had “proposed a Christmas ceasefire,” but that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused.
Afterwards, Dmytro Lytvyn, the President's communications advisor, emphasized that Russia used the Hungarian Prime Minister's statement to prepare a new attack on Ukraine's energy sector.
