Overnight on December 6, Russia carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, using 61 missiles and 653 drones. Ukrainian air defenses managed to shoot down 615 enemy targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force Telegram channel.

According to the military, from 6:00 p.m. on December 5 to the morning of December 6, the enemy launched a combined strike on Ukraine's critical infrastructure using strike drones, air-, sea-, and ground-launched missiles.

In total, the Air Force's radar units detected and tracked 704 aerial attack targets – 51 missiles (including 17 ballistic missiles) and 653 drones of various types:

  • 653 strike drones of the Shahed and Gerbera types (other drone types included) from Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia, and Chauda – Crimea (over 300 of them were Shaheds)

  • 3 aeroballistic Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles (launch sites: Ryazan and Tambov regions, Russia)

  • 34 cruise missiles Kh-101/Iskander-K/Caliber (launch sites: Rostov region, Black Sea)

  • 4 ballistic missiles Iskander-M/KN-23 (launch sites: Bryansk, Rostov regions, Krasnodar Territory – Russia, Crimea)

The aerial attack was repelled by aviation, surface-to-air missile troops, electronic warfare units, UAV units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Preliminary data as of 10:00 a.m. indicates that air defenses intercepted or suppressed 615 aerial targets:

  • 585 enemy drones of the Shahed and Gerbera types (other drone types included)

  • 29 cruise missiles Kh-101/Iskander-K/Caliber

  • 1 ballistic missile Iskander-M/KN-23

Missiles hit 29 locations, along with 60 strike drones, while debris from downed drones fell in three locations.

"The attack continues; several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Follow safety rules!" – the Air Force warned.

Ukraine attack, December 6

Overnight on December 6, Russia launched a massive drone and missile attack on Ukraine.

During the combined strike, explosions were heard in Kyiv. Local authorities reported air defense activity, while the Ukrainian Air Force confirmed flights of Kinzhal and ballistic missiles toward the capital.

Impacts were reported in Fastiv. According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the railway infrastructure was hit, prompting adjustments to passenger train routes passing through Fastiv.

Strikes hit the railway station in Fastiv, and severe fires were reported in Novi Petrivtsi near Kyiv.

Three people were injured as a result of the massive attack on Kyiv region using drones and missiles.

Western regions of Ukraine were also under attack by Russian cruise missiles, prompting military aviation operations in Polish airspace.

Additionally, Russian forces launched a large-scale missile and drone strike on energy infrastructure across several regions, causing power outages in six regions.
