Ukraine summons Slovak ambassador over Bratislava’s accusations
Slovak Ambassador to Ukraine Pavel Vízdal was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after Bratislava’s claims of alleged Ukrainian interference in Slovakia’s affairs, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry.
The ambassador was informed that Kyiv maintains and develops good relations with all international partners supporting it amid Russia’s invasion.
Deputy Minister Olexandr Mischenko expressed disappointment that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is acting as a "speaking trumpet of the Kremlin" and engaging in illogical actions.
Mischenko stressed that such actions by the Slovak government are unacceptable, especially during Russia’s war against Ukraine. They not only harm Ukraine-Slovakia relations but also undermine EU and NATO unity in countering Russia.
The Ministry also criticized Slovakia’s attempts to maintain dependence on Russian gas and oil, calling them unacceptable as EU countries seek alternative supply routes.
"Official Bratislava is urged to stop this policy and revert to a constructive dialogue and the development of good neighborly relations between our countries and peoples," the Foreign Ministry added.
However, Mischenko emphasized Ukraine’s deep gratitude to Slovakia for its support and assistance.
What Fico said
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico previously claimed that Ukraine was allegedly involved in anti-government protests in Slovakia.
He asserted that every third protester was Ukrainian.
Meanwhile, on January 29, Slovakia’s Foreign Ministry summoned Ukrainian Ambassador Myroslav Kastran to deliver a sharp protest.
