Slovak MFA summons Ukraine's ambassador over criticism of Fico
The Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Ukrainian Ambassador Myroslav Kastran. The reason was Kyiv's criticism of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Dennik N reports.
The Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed a "sharp protest" to Kastran over the Ukrainian side's statements, calling them an interference in Slovakia's internal affairs.
However, the ministry did not specify the details of the issue.
Fico's statements and Ukraine's response
On January 28, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy an "enemy" due to the cessation of Russian gas transit to European countries.
In response, Zelenskyy stated that Fico had chosen Moscow over America and was not striving for the preservation of Slovakia's independence and sovereignty.
Fico's statement is likely linked to the recent mass protests that have erupted in the country.
Earlier, Fico accused Ukraine of being involved in the protests.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine also reacted to Fico's latest controversial statements. The ministry views them as an attempt to shift the responsibility for political failures in Slovakia onto Ukraine.
