On July 11 and during the night of July 12, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Syzran oil refinery, 10 tankers, 4 ferries, and other Russian military targets, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Syzran oil refinery in the Samara region of Russia was struck. Explosions and a fire were reported on the refinery’s premises. The extent of the damage and the results of the strike are being assessed.
The Syzran oil refinery is one of the largest oil refining facilities in the Samara region. The plant’s design capacity is approximately 8.5 million metric tons of crude oil per year.
The facility produces automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, and other petroleum products used, in particular, to meet the needs of the Russian Armed Forces.

Attacks on Russian oil refineries
According to the FT, as a result of Ukraine’s strikes, Russia may have already lost between 20% and 40% of its oil refining capacity. Furthermore, the fuel crisis has already affected 50 million Russians.
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following Ukraine’s recent attack on the Omsk oil refinery, there are no longer any oil refineries left in Russia that have not been attacked.
