The refinery’s design capacity is 6.25 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The facility processes crude oil and gas condensate from Western Siberia and the Volga-Ural fields, receiving raw materials via pipelines and rail.
The refinery produces gasoline, diesel fuel, vacuum gas oil, fuel oil, sulfur, and other products for the needs of the Russian occupation army.
This is not the first attack on this facility. On the night of June 11, the Afipsky refinery was attacked by drones, resulting in a major fire and smog at the site.
Since the start of the full-scale war, the Afipsky refinery has repeatedly been targeted by drone attacks due to its importance for fueling the Russian economy and military logistics. The refinery is also a key component of the oil refining infrastructure in southern Russia.
