The Krasnodar Krai region of Russia was attacked by drones on the night of June 11, resulting in damage to the Afipsky Oil Refinery. A major fire broke out at the site, according to OSINT sources.

Although there is a drone threat in the region, social media users speculate that it was a missile strike. In a video filmed by eyewitnesses, sirens and explosions can be heard, followed by a fire breaking out. In addition to a powerful flash, the footage shows black plumes of smoke, likely from burning oil tanks.

There are currently no comments regarding the incident on the official channel of Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev. However, local Telegram channels have already reported both an air raid alert and explosions near the oil refinery.

Regarding drones in Russia on the night of June 11, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported on his Telegram channel that aerial targets had been shot down. There are also reports of drone attacks on Crimea, which allegedly caused a fire in Simferopol.

This is far from the first time drones have attacked the Afipsky refinery. According to media reports, the plant was hit by drones and missiles, specifically in November and December of last year, as well as in March 2026.

The Afipsky Oil Refinery is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, located in the village of Afipsky in the Krasnodar Krai, approximately 20 km from Krasnodar.

The facility is part of the Safmar Group, owned by Russian businessman Mikhail Gutseriev. The plant processes about 6.25 million tons of crude oil per year and produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and other petroleum products.

Since the start of the full-scale war, the Afipsky Oil Refinery has repeatedly been targeted by drone attacks due to its importance for fuel supplies to the Russian economy and military logistics. The refinery is also a key component of the oil refining infrastructure in southern Russia.
