Ukraine strikes one of Russia's largest oil refineries and key bridge

On the night of July 2, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Kstovo, a railway bridge, and other Russian targets, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As a result of the attack on the refinery, a direct hit on the facility was recorded, followed by a fire on the refinery grounds.
According to preliminary information, the AVT-6 primary oil refining unit was hit. The extent of the damage is being assessed.
The Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in Russia. The plant’s design capacity is approximately 17 million metric tons of crude oil per year.
The facility produces automotive gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel, lubricants, and other products used, in particular, to meet the needs of Russia’s armed forces.
A Russian drone depot in the Kamianka area of Zaporizhzhia region was also struck.
In addition, a railway bridge across the Siverskyi Donets River near Stanytsia Luhanska was struck. Russia uses this facility for military logistics and the movement of personnel, weapons, and logistical supplies.
A Russian command and observation post near Vilshana in the Kharkiv region was also struck.
Strike on Lukoil oil refinery
On the night of July 2, a powerful explosion rocked the oil refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, Russia.
Online reports indicated that this time, Ukrainian drones struck a Russian plant owned by Lukoil-Nizhegorodnaftorgsintez. The facility was engulfed in flames.
This is not the first time this oil facility has come under attack by Ukrainian drones. Ukrainian defense forces struck it in April and May 2026.
