Ukraine seeks phone call between Zelenskyy and Xi Jinping

Ukraine seeks to arrange a phone call between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as part of plans to hold a summit on the Peace Formula at the leaders' level, according to Bloomberg.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who participated in the World Economic Forum in Davos, has stated that the Ukrainian government insists on establishing a direct channel of communication between Xi Jinping and the President of Ukraine.
"There are things that they can talk about... Zelenskyy’s peace formula is 'a way to restore long lasting just peace in Ukraine'," Kuleba says.
China and the Peace Formula in Ukraine
During his speech at the G20 summit in November 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed the Peace Formula to halt Russia's full-scale invasion.
Earlier, Swiss Federal Council member Ignazio Cassis stated that China should be involved in efforts to stop the war between Ukraine and Russia.
Zelenskyy has also emphasized China's significant role in the world, expressing Ukraine's desire for China's participation in the peace summit.
However, representatives from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not attend the Peace Formula forum and did not respond to why the country did not participate in the meeting. Meanwhile, they stated that Beijing supports "all efforts aimed at achieving peace."
