Russia attacked a Ukrainian thermal power plant operated by DTEK Group on Saturday, November 8, causing damage to the facility.
"Russia has attacked a DTEK thermal power plant again. The equipment was seriously damaged. We are working to address the consequences of the attack," DTEK Group said.
The company added that since the start of the full-scale war, its thermal power plants have been attacked more than 210 times.
Russian attacks on Ukraine and energy infrastructure
On the night of November 8, Russian forces launched massive drone and missile attacks across Ukraine, targeting energy infrastructure.
The attack prompted emergency power outage schedules in several regions, and Kyiv experienced emergency shutdowns twice. Kremenchuk was also left without electricity.
Earlier, Ukraine's state energy company, PJSC Centerenergo, reported that the attack on its thermal power plants was the largest Russia has carried out against them so far. As a result, all plants have halted operating and are currently not generating electricity.
According to Ukraine's state energy company Ukrenergo, power outages are expected to increase significantly on November 9.
