Ukraine's strikes on Russian corvette in Crimea mark historic milestone - Defense Express
On November 4, the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the port and marine infrastructure of the Zatoka plant in the temporarily occupied Crimea in Kerch, significantly damaging the enemy missile corvette Askold. This attack was unique in history, according to Defense Express.
An analysis of footage of damage to the Project 22800 Karakurt ship, which appeared in the public domain, shows that the Russians will now have to rebuild the ship literally all over again.
The publication notes that the corvette received very critical damage to very important elements after a missile strike using SCALP-EG.
"And so Ukraine became the first in history to destroy an enemy missile ship that had not even left the factory and had not been put into service in its fleet," the profile agency notes.
Video of the moment of hit on the corvette Askold
A video was published online showing the moment when a missile was hit by the Zatoka shipyard in occupied Kerch, near which a Russian missile carrier ship was moored last Saturday.
The video shows at least four powerful explosions.
The peculiarity of the blow
As DF draws attention, the hit fell precisely on the central part of the ship's hull, where 8 vertical launchers were placed for launching cruise missiles of the Kalibr type and/or P-800 Onyx. Thus, the main weapons system of the ship was destroyed.

"Furthermore, given the nature of the external damage, most likely the Russians will have to scrap most (if not all) of the on-board ship control equipment located on the bridge," the agency says.
It is also noted that since the diesel engines on the corvettes of the Karakurt project are located in a compartment in the center of the hull, it is highly doubtful that the ship's power plant will retain its functionality.

The Russians planned to put the Askold missile corvette into operation in the Black Sea Fleet in December of this year. Instead, they will probably announce their intention to rebuild the ship now.
"But here the enemy will have to rebuild his vessel from scratch because, with the affected power plant, on-board control equipment, and the main weapons system, this damaged ship is just a scrap metal set," the agency says.
Hit on Kerch
On November 4, explosions rang out in the temporarily occupied Kerch in Crimea. At that time, the Russians claimed that the anti-aircraft defense was working.
Later, the Strategic Communications Department of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced that the Ukrainian military had struck the Zatoka shipyard in Crimea.
It also became known that the Caliber carrier was damaged as a result of the attack.
Previously, the Strategic Communications Department of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine showed a photo of the consequences. The footage showed that the Defense Forces caused significant damage to the enemy ship Askold.
