Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Julie Davis, the US Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine. They discussed the free trade area between the two countries.

During the meeting, Shmyhal thanked all Americans for the assistance provided to Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

"Continuing the agreements with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, we coordinated our joint steps toward establishing a free trade area between Ukraine and the US. This will be a significant achievement on the path to the prosperity of our countries and peoples," Shmyhal said.

He emphasized the important role of the United States in the ministerial-level roundtable of the World Bank and the IMF, as well as the US contribution to Ukraine’s financial support.

"I highlighted the important role of American businesses operating in Ukraine — they have preserved jobs and continue to pay taxes. We are interested in seeing more US companies invest in our country and take part in its recovery. The agreement on the establishment of the Ukraine Recovery Investment Fund will provide the necessary momentum for this," the Prime Minister noted.

Who is Davis?

Earlier, we reported that Julie Davis had arrived in Kyiv. In early May, she was appointed as the US Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine.
