Julie Davis has been appointed as the interim Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Ukraine. She will officially assume the position next week, according to the press service of the US Embassy in Ukraine.

"Ambassador Julie S. Davis will assume the role of Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim, effective Monday, May 5th," the Embassy said in a statement.

On behalf of President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Davis will oversee the Embassy’s cooperation with the Ukrainian government and people.

The Embassy stated that she will work diligently to help bring an end to Ukraine’s war against Russia and to strengthen US-Ukraine bilateral relations, making them "safer, stronger, and more prosperous".

Davis is currently serving as the US Ambassador to Cyprus.

Who is Julie Davis?

Julie Davis is a senior-ranking American diplomat and recipient of the Presidential Rank Award. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina and a master’s degree from Princeton University.

She speaks fluent Russian and French.

Before she was appointed Ambassador to Cyprus, Davis served as the US Special Envoy to Belarus, becoming the first American ambassador to the country since 2008.

Previously, she worked as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Europe and the EU, and as Deputy Permanent Representative of the US Mission to NATO.

She has also held various roles at NATO headquarters and in US embassies in Georgia, Ukraine, and Russia, as well as in the National Security Council and other State Department units.
