Stains resembling oil and dead birds were found on two beaches in Odesa. An investigation has been launched into this incident, and the relevant services have been dispatched to the site, according to the head of the Odesa regional military administration, Serhii Lysak.

"Stains resembling oil and dead birds have been found in the area of the Delfin and Lanzheron beaches. Their size and origin are currently being determined," Lysak says.

According to him, the situation is being investigated by the relevant services. The environmental inspection, the Uzberezhzhia municipal enterprise, the rescue and diving service, as well as representatives of the Odesa City Council's Department of Municipal Security have already arrived at the scene.

"After receiving the conclusions of the experts, additional official information will be provided," adds the head of the Odesa regional military administration.

Prosecutors open criminal case

As a result of the Russian terrorist attack in the port of Pivdennyi, which led to a spill of sunflower oil in the water area, environmental pollution occurred. The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has launched an investigation.

On December 20, Russians launched a series of massive drone strikes on the Odesa region. As a result of the Russian terrorist attack, the company's tanks were damaged, and a fire broke out. Sunflower oil was stored in 13 tanks.

"On December 24, stains resembling vegetable oil were found on the coast of the Odesa region and in the sea. Specialists are working on site: they are conducting a survey of the territory, and the environmental inspection is taking samples for laboratory research," the report says.

The calculation of damages from Russia's terrorist attack will be carried out after all the circumstances have been established. It is also planned to conduct engineering and environmental expert examinations. Criminal proceedings have been opened on the fact of committing war crimes (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and investigative actions are ongoing.

Russian strikes on Odesa and region

Yesterday, December 23, Russian occupiers once again attacked the port of Odesa with strike drones. As a result of the Russian attack, a civilian ship flying the Lebanese flag, which was transporting Ukrainian soybeans, was damaged.

Also, on the night of December 22, Russian troops attacked the port and energy infrastructure of the Odesa region, in particular, containers with flour and oil caught fire in the Pivdennyi port.

One of the most massive attacks on Odesa and the region took place on the night of December 13, when a significant part of the region, including Odesa, was left without electricity, water, and heat, with the city of Artsyz suffering the most damage.

Russians also began striking the bridge in Mayaky on the Odesa-Reni highway, which made it difficult to reach checkpoints and western settlements in the region. The authorities and transport services developed alternative routes.

Later, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority reported that as a result of massive Russian terrorist acts against the infrastructure of the port of Pivdennyi in the Odesa region, a leak of vegetable oil into the Black Sea had been recorded.
