On the night of December 22, Russian forces once again struck port and energy infrastructure in Ukraine’s Odesa region. One of the targets was the Pivdennyi port, where containers filled with flour and vegetable oil caught fire, according to Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Recovery Oleksii Kuleba.

“The enemy does not stop striking the Odesa region. Russia is trying to destroy maritime logistics by carrying out systematic attacks on port and energy infrastructure. Last night, ports and energy facilities once again came under fire,” he said.

According to Kuleba, a fire broke out at the Pivdennyi port as a result of the strike. Around 30 containers loaded with flour and vegetable oil were set ablaze.

Port workers, together with emergency and specialized services, are currently working at the site. Efforts to eliminate the consequences of the strike are ongoing.

In addition, due to damage to energy infrastructure, more than 120,000 consumers in the Odesa region remain without electricity.

Emergency repair crews have already begun restoration work. Critical infrastructure facilities have been connected to backup power sources, and the region continues to receive heat and water supplies.

Restoration work is also underway in the Zhytomyr region, where railway infrastructure was damaged as a result of the attack. Two train drivers were injured and are receiving the necessary medical assistance.

Overnight, Russian forces attacked Odesa twice with strike drones. As a result of the attacks, a critical infrastructure facility in the city was damaged, leaving part of one district temporarily without electricity.

It was also reported that one person was injured and hospitalized with shrapnel wounds.

In addition, the Zhytomyr region also came under Russian attack. The enemy struck energy and transport infrastructure there, injuring four employees of Ukrzaliznytsia.

According to the Air Force, Russian forces launched 86 drones at Ukraine overnight from five different directions. Most of the drones were shot down, but 26 impacts were recorded across various locations.
