Ukrainian troops continue their assaults along the entire salient in the Kursk region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed the third and last bridge over the Seim River in the Russian region, which could significantly complicate Russia's logistics.

For more information and maps of the battles in the Kursk region, see RBC-Ukraine's report below.

In the 13 days of the Ukrainian offensive, the combat zone in the Russian border has practically covered four districts of the Kursk region - Korenevo, Sudzha, Belaya, and Glushkovo districts. In addition, there have also been clashes on the very border of the Lgov and Bolshoe Soldatskoe districts.

In total, Russia has lost control over about 1,200 square kilometers, and this zone continues to expand. The Ukrainian analytical resource DeepState updated its map overnight, marking the settlements of Apanasovka, Snagost, and Otruba as being under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, the Institute of War Studies notes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have made little progress southeast of Sudzha.

Based on geolocation data, the authors of the report write about the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the north of Martynovka. In their turn, the so-called Russian military commanders write that Ukrainian forces allegedly control the village of Troitskoe in the Korenevo district and have advanced to Semenovka (north of Suzha and about 24 kilometers from the international border).

As for Korenevo itself, according to Russian media resources, there is fighting around it, as well as nearby Olgovka.

The situation around the Glushkovo district is interesting. According to the Russian media outlet Agenstvo, Ukrainian troops are allegedly trying to expand the combat zone to this particular area by destroying bridges in it.

According to unconfirmed information appearing on social media, the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly destroyed the third and last bridge over the Seim River in the village of Karyzh, Kursk region. The day before, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed a bridge in the village of Glushkovo and a little further north near the village of Zvannoe in this area of the frontline.

According to the Russian side, Ukraine is trying to cut off Russian troops from supply routes in the Glushkovo district. After that, the enemy in the south of the area will be forced to use crossings and pontoon bridges. In addition, Russian forces remaining there may be captured.

According to the Agenstvo, if this maneuver is successful for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the combat zone in the Kursk region will expand by 1.5 times and Ukraine will be able to take control of up to 700 square kilometers of territory.

Armed Forces of Ukraine's offensive in Kursk region

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive in the Kursk region began on August 6, 2024. However, for almost a week, the Ukrainian military and political leadership kept silent. According to the latest data from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukrainian soldiers are already controlling 1,150 square kilometers and 82 settlements in the region.

Ukraine has already established a military commandant's office in these areas, headed by Major General Eduard Moskaliov. Ukraine states that the purpose of the operation is not to occupy Russian territory.

In addition, yesterday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Armed Forces plans to create a buffer zone in the Kursk region and that Ukraine's main task is to destroy Russian potential and conduct counterattacks.

Read whether the Kursk breakthrough could expand to the Belgorod region in RBC-Ukraine's article.

We also explained why Ukraine needs a commandant's office in the Kursk region and how long the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be there.
