Ukraine's General Staff unveils Russia's advance in first Sumy battlefield maps

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has for the first time shown Russia's advance on maps of the battlefield in the Sumy region.
On the map published today, July 1, it is clear which territory the enemy has seized in the Sumy region and the directions of their advance.
Only yesterday, June 30, the General Staff showed the enemy’s offensive on maps in a conditional way, marking it with red arrows from the state border of Ukraine.
"In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 attacks by Russian forces. The enemy launched 18 airstrikes in the past day, dropping a total of 35 guided aerial bombs. They also carried out 323 artillery shellings, including 16 from multiple rocket launcher systems," the General Staff wrote.

Situation in the Sumy region
On June 24, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported a significant decrease in combat activity by Russian forces in the Sumy direction. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed he did not give his terrorists the task of occupying Sumy but "does not rule out" such a scenario.
On June 26, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said Ukrainian defenders managed to stop the Russians in the Sumy region.
Yesterday, June 30, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia's intentions regarding the Sumy region would not be realized because the Armed Forces of Ukraine are disrupting Russia's plans.
