Russia plans new offensive on Kyiv and Chernihiv, Ukrainian official says

This specifically refers to planning and preparing for possible scenarios, not to the actual launch of an offensive operation.

"We have indeed received intelligence, verified from multiple sources, that the military leadership of the Russian Armed Forces has been tasked by the political leadership with planning several variants of such an operation in the direction of Kyiv and Chernihiv," he states.

Palisa separately emphasizes that the Russian side was currently only considering several possible courses of action. At the same time, the Ukrainian General Staff has already worked out potential scenarios for response, defense, and countermeasures.

However, Ukraine has not yet detected the formation of a Russian offensive force in these directions.

"At this time, we do not see the formation of an offensive force in these directions," notes the representative of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

According to him, Ukraine's main objective remains preventing conditions under which Russian troops could launch offensive operations at all.

Thus, the fact that the Russian command has plans for several possible operations does not mean that an offensive against Kyiv or Chernihiv has already begun or is inevitable. At the same time, the Ukrainian side is taking this scenario into account and preparing for possible developments.

Russia continues to advance on several sections of the front, particularly in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military is conducting localized counterattacks, holding back Russia's advance.

According to the ISW, in recent days the Ukrainian Armed Forces have managed to repel some of the Russian attacks near Kupiansk, Borova, and Lyman.
