Enemy tactics change in Sumy region as Russia lowers pressure, Ukraine's border guards say

Russian forces have significantly decreased combat activity in the Sumy direction, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing Andriy Demchenko, Spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
According to Demchenko, Russian troops continue operating in certain areas, particularly within the Yunakivka and Khotyn communities.
The enemy is still attempting to infiltrate with small assault groups, but the overall intensity of attacks has noticeably declined.
As Demchenko explained, this was made possible thanks to the effective actions of Ukrainian units.
"This is, of course, the result of Ukrainian defenders - all components of the Defense Forces, including the Armed Forces and the State Border Guard Service. Just along our defensive lines in this zone, dozens of enemy soldiers have been killed or wounded," the Spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine noted.
In recent days alone, dozens of Russian troops have been killed or wounded along the border defense lines in this region.
In addition, the enemy has reduced its use of motorized vehicles and quad bikes, which were previously actively employed for rapid breakthroughs into Ukrainian territory.
Russia is not using armored vehicles in this area - likely due to shortages or to conserve resources for future operations.
Russian offensive in Sumy region
On June 20, Russian leader Vladimir Putin claimed that he had allegedly not ordered his troops to occupy Sumy, but said he "does not rule out" such a scenario.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he had held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, which included a detailed frontline report. Particular attention was paid to the Sumy region and actions in the border area.
According to DeepState, Russian forces have expanded their control in the border areas of the Sumy region. On June 8, analysts reported that the Russians may have occupied the village of Loknya.
