Ukraine's defense minister invites Türkiye to join maritime coalition
Ukraine aims to expand the maritime coalition, inviting Türkiye to join the initiative, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov held a meeting with the new Turkish Ambassador to Ukraine, Levent Bilgen. Umerov invited Türkiye to join the maritime coalition to strengthen security in the Black Sea.
"We are grateful to Türkiye for supporting Ukraine from the first day of the full-scale invasion in ensuring the security of the Black Sea. We invite Türkiye to join the maritime coalition," said the minister.
The Ukrainian and Turkish sides also discussed potential cooperation in defense production.
The new Turkish ambassador said that his country would continue comprehensive support for Ukraine.

Maritime coalition
On December 11, it was announced that Britain and Norway are forming a maritime coalition to assist Ukraine.
Britain immediately announced the transfer of two Sandown-class minehunters, 23 fast patrol boats, and 20 tracked all-terrain vehicles Bandvagn BvS 10 to Ukraine.
Later, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense explained that the goal of the maritime coalition is security in the Black Sea, particularly in the matter of demining.
