Russian forces carried out a series of strikes on civilian facilities operated by Ukraine's largest oil and gas production company, Ukrnafta. The attacks damaged production facilities, destroyed gas stations, and killed one person, according to Ukrnafta and a statement from company director Bohdan Kukura.
Outcomes of Russian strikes
The assault was continuing from Tuesday, July 2, through Sunday, July 5, 2026. A production site and three gas stations in the state-owned network that supply fuel to frontline communities came under attack.
One person was killed, and two others were injured. The attacks also caused extensive damage to buildings and equipment.
"Russia has once again demonstrated that its targets are civilian infrastructure, including facilities that sustain the lives of frontline communities," the company said.

Timeline of attacks by region
Russian troops used drones for attacks:
- Sumy region: On July 5, two jet-powered drones struck a production facility at one of the company's oil-and-gas fields. The attack sparked a fire. No one was injured, and the equipment sustained severe damage.
- Dnipropetrovsk region: On July 3, a Shahed-type drone hit the entrance to a gas station. A power line was damaged, but staff and customers were unharmed.
- Mykolaiv region: During the day on July 2, an attack drone struck the canopy above the fuel pumps at a gas station. One person was killed, and two others were injured, including an assistant station operator. The building was destroyed, and several vehicles burned.
- Kharkiv region: On the night of July 2, three Shahed drones completely destroyed the building and above-ground equipment at another gas station. No casualties were reported.
"We are restoring the damaged facilities wherever possible to ensure fuel supplies reach the people who need them most, including those in frontline areas," company director Bohdan Kukura said.
Strikes on Naftogaz facilities
Notable that this is far from the first attempt by Russian forces to destroy Ukrainian gas production infrastructure. Earlier, Russian troops targeted production facilities operated by the Naftogaz Group in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions on two consecutive days.
During those attacks, Russian forces launched at least four ballistic missiles, including some equipped with particularly dangerous cluster warheads, and strike drones. Despite the series of powerful strikes, the worst-case scenario was avoided.
In addition, Russian drones recently struck another Naftogaz gas production facility in the Poltava region, triggering a fire. The company was forced to temporarily suspend operations to assess the extent of the damage, while employees took shelter during the attack.
