Ukraine's army combines unique combat experience with NATO standards – Ukrainian PM
Ukraine has a military with unique combat experience in modern warfare, already operating under NATO standards, stated Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at the German-Ukrainian Business Forum.
He emphasized that Ukraine's army effectively protects Europe’s eastern flank and will continue to do so in the future. Additionally, Ukraine’s defense production is gaining momentum.
"The capacity of Ukraine's defense industry will reach approximately $30 billion by 2025. We have the largest number of joint ventures in the defense industry with Germany, including projects for repairing and maintaining armored vehicles and tanks, producing modern IFVs, air defense systems, and missiles," Shmyhal noted.
He added that Ukraine is also advancing projects for producing anti-tank grenade launchers and mines, highlighting extensive growth opportunities in this sector.
"Our defense industry comprises 800 enterprises, over 300,000 workers, manufacturing facilities, highly skilled specialists, and the ability to produce a wide range of weaponry. All of this contributes to our collective security," he stressed.
Rheinmetall in Ukraine
Earlier this year, German defense company Rheinmetall announced plans to build at least four arms plants in Ukraine.
In May, Rheinmetall confirmed the establishment of joint air defense production in Ukraine.
By autumn, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger revealed that the company had opened its first plant in Ukraine.
