German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall will establish joint production of anti-aircraft systems in Ukraine, citing a statement from Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger.

During the annual general meeting, Papperger announced plans to establish another joint venture in Ukraine focusing on air defense. Furthermore, it was revealed that 40 Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles will be delivered to Ukraine starting this month until September.

However, it is expected that production might not commence for at least another year or two, with no additional details provided at this time.

Rheinmetall's collaboration with Ukraine

In March 2024, it was disclosed that the German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall intends to construct at least four plants in Ukraine for weapons manufacturing.

According to Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, one of these production facilities is already operational. While some defense products are being manufactured in partner countries, Ukrainian components play a significant role in the process.

Additionally, it was reported in April that Rheinmetall will transfer an additional 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine.
