The Russian army continues its assaults in the Kharkiv direction. However, the enemy is being held back in the Vovchansk area, according to a Telegram post by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

According to Syrskyi, he visited the Khartia brigade's defensive line in the Kharkiv direction as the enemy continued its assault attempts there.

"On-site, I conducted a detailed assessment of the operational situation, discussed key issues to ensure the stability of the defense, identified the needs of our troops, and issued instructions to resolve pressing problems," Syrskyi wrote.

He recalled that in May last year, the Russian forces launched a large-scale offensive operation in this direction. Their goal was to create a buffer zone in northern Ukraine and potentially capture Kharkiv. However, after ten months, the enemy remains blocked in the Vovchansk area and has been pushed north in some sectors.

Situation near Vovchansk

Ukraine’s Defense Forces have counterattacked in the Vovchansk area near the steam mill, north of the Aggregate Plant. According to analysts, this confirms Ukrainian advances near the plant.

At the end of August, reports indicated that Russian troops had been trapped at the plant for several months.

Additionally, Volodymyr Cherniak, an officer of the National Guard's Rubezh brigade, stated that the Aggregate Plant in Vovchansk had become a major problem for Russian forces. He also hinted at positive news for Ukraine from this direction.

At the end of September last year, Ukraine’s Defense Forces reported that soldiers from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine had cleared the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant of enemy troops.
