US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll says the United States is adopting Ukraine's experience in modern warfare, particularly in innovation, according to the Clash Report.

Media reports that Driscoll spoke on Thursday, April 16, before the US House Committee on Appropriations. It was his first testimony since Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth forced Army Chief of Staff General Randy George to resign.

During the hearing, other issues were also raised, including those related to Ukraine. Driscoll stressed that the US Army has supported Ukraine's armed forces and has "stood by Ukrainians since the very first day of the war."

He noted that he has been to Kyiv and spent significant time with members of the Ukrainian leadership, adding that the United States is learning from Ukraine.

"The Ukrainians have fundamentally altered how humans engage in conflict. They have done an absolutely amazing job of innovating, and I am publicly on record saying we are learning a lot from them and we are changing to a lot of the lessons that they have taught us," the US Army secretary said.

US learns from Ukraine

In May 2025, US President Donald Trump said the American military is actively studying new methods of warfare, particularly the use of drones, based on the war in Ukraine.

A few months later, in August, Trump again said the war in Ukraine is being fought using drones, noting that this was the biggest development in the history of warfare, a completely new form of warfare that did not exist before. Therefore, the United States is studying it.
