Ukraine reveals why Russia can't capture Chasiv Yar in swift assaults

Russian forces cannot capture Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region on the move. Ukrainian troops maintain fire control over all approaches where Russians attempt assaults, said Ukrainian 11th Army Corps Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Zaporozhets.
Zaporozhets said Russian forces have long tried to storm Chasiv Yar with frontal attacks. They notably attempted to assault through the Siverskyi Donets canal.
"Any movement of equipment in the breaks of this canal is under our control. We have repeatedly demonstrated the ability to destroy the enemy there. Specifically, the 24th Mechanized Brigade and other units involved at different times in the defense of Chasiv Yar," the spokesperson said.
He added that Ukraine does not currently control the canal itself, but it remains within firing range, and the Russians are being destroyed. One example was the failed Russian assault on July 30. Russian equipment was detected well before it reached the combat zone in the Pivnichnyi neighborhood.
"Physically, we do not control that area. However, we maintain control using FPV drones and artillery. So, to say the enemy has any chance to capture the rest of Chasiv Yar under our control on the move does not resemble the usual flanking pincer movements it applies against other settlements," the military official concluded.
Situation in Chasiv Yar
On July 31, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the "capture" of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. The “Khortytsia operational-strategic troop group immediately ridiculed the Russian statements and denied their falsehood. Ukrainian troops also explained the Russians' "performances" in Chasiv Yar.
The Russians were forced to deploy heavy artillery. On August 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin falsely claimed live on air that Chasiv Yar had been captured. Despite this, the Armed Forces of Ukraine quickly debunked his falsehood.
