Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that Russian forces have seized Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, suggesting that Ukrainian authorities are supposedly "not well informed about frontline developments", according to TASS and the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

During a joint appearance with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, the Russian President asserted that Chasiv Yar has been under the control of the Russian army for "several days".

Putin also claimed that Ukraine’s top military and political leadership is "not well informed about frontline developments," because they deny the fact of the city’s capture, Putin added.

The Center for Countering Disinformation responded, emphasizing that the Kremlin's leader is publicly lying.

"Putin lied about the occupation of Chasiv Yar. Of course, the Russians do not control Chasiv Yar," wrote Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center.

Russia lies about the capture of Chasiv Yar

On July 31, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that Russian forces had seized Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. However, Ukraine’s Operational Tactical Group Khortytsia mocked the Russian statements and denied their false claims, stating that the city remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In addition, Ukrainian forces explained the Russian "performances" in Chasiv Yar.
