Ukraine succeeded in returning from Russian-occupied territory a mother with four children aged 15, 12, 8, and 1.5 years, reports Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.

"As part of the President of Ukraine's initiative Bring Kids Back UA, we managed to rescue a mother with four children aged 15, 12, 8, and one and a half years, who decided to take a difficult and dangerous path from the temporarily occupied territory," Yermak said.

According to him, the family lived under constant pressure from Russian forces, who demanded that the children follow the Russian curriculum in an occupation-run school, but the mother managed to arrange online classes at a Ukrainian school for the older children.

For the first time in more than three years, the children finally saw their father, and now the family is safe.

"I thank Helping to Leave for assisting in rescuing this family. We are fulfilling the president's task – to bring back all children," the head of the Office of the President added.

Deportation of Ukrainian children

According to Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has deported from Ukraine more than 19,500 children. More than one thousand young Ukrainians have been returned home.

The deportation of Ukrainian children became the reason for the International Criminal Court in The Hague to issue arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Commissioner for Children's Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova.

Recently, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed at first reading a draft law establishing responsibility for the illegal transfer and use of children for military purposes by a representative of a foreign state.
