Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights stated that Ukraine anticipates positive news regarding the return of children and other citizens deported by Russia, which may happen this week.

According to the Ombudsman, since 2014, Russia has deported tens of thousands of Ukrainian children. Officially, Ukraine has managed to identify 19,546 children who Russia illegally took.

Lubinets announced good news regarding the return of Ukrainians home.

"In terms of intermediaries, Qatar is the most successful. I hope that this week we will hear new positive news about the return," the Ombudsman said.

He added that the return to Ukraine is expected for "children and not only children."

Prisoner exchanges between Ukraine and Russia

It should be noted that Ukraine and Russia have conducted a series of prisoner exchanges. However, over the past year, Moscow has increasingly blocked the possibility of exchanges.

There are ideas about exchanging prisoners in Ukraine according to the "all for all" formula. However, Russia ignores this initiative.

Furthermore, the Putin regime continues to actively deport Ukrainian children, giving them up for adoption to Russian families and changing their citizenship. It should be added that the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian leader Vladimir Putin specifically for the deportation of Ukrainian children.
