Ukraine produces one Flamingo cruise missile every day - AP

Ukraine is producing one Flamingo cruise missile daily, expanding its defensive capabilities, the Associated Press (AP) reports.
Ukrainian Iryna Terekh, Head of production at Fire Point, explained that air combat is currently Ukraine’s only real asymmetric advantage on the battlefield.
“We don’t have as much manpower or money as they (Russians - ed.) have,” Terekh added.
After the full-scale invasion, Ukraine quickly became a global center for defense innovation. The goal is to match, if not surpass, Russia’s capabilities - and Fire Point is one of the leading companies in this effort.
The Fire Point team regularly receives feedback from military units, and the company has reinvested most of its profits into rapid innovation to stay ahead of other drone manufacturers. Increasingly, these profits are being directed toward developing new, more powerful weapons.
This year, the company completed testing of its first FP-5 cruise missile, capable of traveling 3,000 kilometers and landing within 14 meters of its target.
The FP-5 is one of the largest missiles of its kind in the world, delivering a payload of 1,150 kilograms. Early versions of this missile came out pink due to a factory error, which led to the nickname Flamingo - a name that has stuck.
According to Terekh, Fire Point produces approximately one Flamingo per day, and by October, production capacity is expected to increase to seven missiles per day.
Serial production of Flamingo missiles in Ukraine
Previously, media outlets reported that Ukraine had begun serial production of Flamingo cruise missiles. In particular, the new missile features a warhead twice as powerful as that of the American Tomahawk.
Ukrainian photojournalist Yefrem Lukatsky shared images of the new missile on his Facebook page, teasing further details.
Although only the name and declared range were initially revealed, experts noted that there are very few missiles like this in the world. Analysts believe that the missile shown in the published photo is most likely the FP-5 cruise missile.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that this is a very powerful weapon and promised to provide more details when the key moment arrives.
