Ukraine opened its first agricultural hub in Africa in the Republic of Ghana. The food processing and distribution center started operating under the Food from Ukraine initiative, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko reports.
According to Svyrydenko, despite the war, Ukraine continues to play an important role in ensuring global food security and is moving to a new model of cooperation, not only grain exports, but also the creation of production and logistics centers in partner countries.
As the head of government said, the agro hub was created by Ukrainian agribusiness in cooperation with the government of Ghana as a result of agreements reached during the Food from Ukraine conference in November 2025.
"This is a new format of our presence in the world, when humanitarian support is combined with the development of partnership and local economy," the prime minister said.
She added that Ukrainian products will be combined with local ones, food packages will be formed, and their distribution will be ensured. The next stage is the development of processing, packaging, and portioning directly in Ghana.
The first packages included locally produced rice and pasta made in Ghana from Ukrainian flour. During the opening, 4,000 food packages were delivered to the most vulnerable groups of the population, in particular to Ghanaian widows.
The Ukrainian government considers Ghana a key partner in West Africa for the development of humanitarian programs and expansion of trade presence in the region.
"We are ready to share our expertise, technologies, and experience in increasing yields to strengthen global food security together," Svyrydenko said.
Ukraine is one of the key suppliers of grain crops to global markets and ensures the food security of many countries.
Earlier, the country ranked second among global grain exporters, second only to the United States.
Recently became known that China has opened its market for the import of Ukrainian wheat flour. Negotiations on this issue lasted at least three years.
