The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund will consider on February 26 the issue of allocating an $8.1 billion loan to Ukraine under a four-year program, Bloomberg reports.

According to the outlet, the IMF is ready to give final approval to the aid package that was agreed at the staff level last autumn.

At the same time, the IMF has eased its previous requirements for Kyiv.

"The fund had previously demanded that Kyiv submit a domestically unpopular tax bill, but has since dropped the requirement," the outlet says.

The IMF itself stressed that the Ukrainian side has fulfilled all the necessary commitments to receive the funding.

"Ukraine has met all conditions required for board approval," the outlet said earlier this month.

New IMF credit line

Ukraine and the IMF agreed on a new four-year program last autumn. It became the foundation for planning state expenditures, particularly after the Verkhovna Rada adopted the 2026 state budget.

The negotiation process was accompanied by discussions on complex tax reforms. Earlier reports suggested that the IMF could give Ukraine a year to adopt the necessary legislative changes. It later emerged that the concessions were made — there will be no VAT increase for sole proprietors for now, as the IMF eased its conditions.

Reports indicated that the IMF would consider the new credit line in the coming days, which ultimately resulted in the board meeting being scheduled for February 26.
