Ukraine needs more Patriots to stop ballistic missiles – Zelenskyy

When Ukraine receives a sufficient number of Patriot air defense systems, there will no longer be a threat from Russian ballistic missiles, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with representatives of Ukrainian and international media.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine is working with its partners on the transfer of Patriot systems.
"When we resolve this issue — and we will — there will be no threat from ballistic missiles either," the president emphasized.
Patriots for Ukraine
According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the United States wants to discuss with NATO allies the possibility of transferring Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. However, so far no country is willing to part with this type of weaponry.
On July 9, US President Donald Trump confirmed that Ukraine had asked Washington to supply Patriot systems. The American leader stated that the US would consider the request, though he made no specific promises.
Earlier, media reports suggested that Trump might approve the delivery of one additional Patriot system to Ukraine.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also announced that Germany is prepared to purchase Patriot systems from the US in order to transfer them to Ukraine.
Today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Germany is ready to fund two US-made Patriot systems for Ukraine, while Norway has committed to one more.
