During today’s massive Russian attack on Ukraine, air defense forces managed to destroy more than 93% of the missiles and drones launched, although many strikes still hit their targets. There will be a fair response for all of these attacks, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports.
“Still, a significant number of missiles and drones during these attacks were intercepted. The overall interception rate exceeded 93%. Of course, it needs to be higher. And, of course, the most difficult challenge is defending against ballistic missiles. I thank everyone who is helping us with this,” Zelenskyy wrote.
He stressed that all of these strikes would receive a fair response and that pressure on Moscow must continue so Russia feels the consequences of its terror.
“It is important that there are global sanctions against Russia. Russia’s responsibility for this war and our sanctions pressure must work at one hundred percent. And it is also very important that the world does not stay silent about this terror and stands with Ukraine,” the president added.
Massive attack on Ukraine
As a reminder, during the night of May 14, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine using attack drones, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and aeroballistic missiles.
In total, Russian forces fired 56 missiles and 675 drones at Ukraine overnight.
Kyiv was the main target. Rescue operations are still ongoing at the site of a Russian drone strike on a residential nine-story building, where an entire section of the apartment block was completely destroyed.
Five people were killed, and more than 40 were reported injured. More people may still be trapped under the rubble, with over 10 currently listed as missing.
Russian forces also struck the Kyiv region and several other regions across Ukraine.
More details about the consequences of the overnight massive attack on Ukraine can be found in RBC-Ukraine’s report.
RBC-Ukraine also visited the site of the strike on the nine-story building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district and showed the aftermath of another Russian war crime in its report.
