An intergovernmental commission will discuss Hungary's blocking of the negotiating clusters required for Ukraine's EU accession, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi stated.

Commission's work

According to Tykhyi, an intergovernmental commission will begin operating in November, including to address Hungary's blocking of the last two negotiating clusters.

"Next month, we will announce the exact date later; an intergovernmental commission will take place. The team is working on it now and preparing for the meeting," the spokesperson noted.

He said the joint Ukrainian-Hungarian commission would have a fairly broad agenda, ranging from economic issues to the protection of minority rights.

"This Ukrainian-Hungarian agenda will be discussed there," he explained.

In his view, this is a positive sign of normalizing relations and moving forward, which Ukraine needs.

Spokesperson Tykhyi thanked Hungary's partners for their constructive approach and willingness to move forward.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Ukraine expects to open all six negotiating clusters by year-end as part of its EU accession process.

There are currently no more political obstacles to this, particularly following the normalization of relations with Hungary.

In addition, Ukraine can hold EU accession talks in two more clusters: Internal Market and Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth.

It was also reported that on October 7, Hungary gave the green light to negotiations in two more clusters for Ukraine's EU accession.
