Ukraine's accession to the EU is moving forward step by step. Hungary has given the green light to negotiations on two more clusters, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said.
According to Sybiha, Ukraine and Hungary are taking steps towards each other and towards European unity together.
"These days, a bill aimed at regulating the educational rights of national communities was registered in the Ukrainian Parliament and approved by the relevant parliamentary committee," the minister recalled.
Today, at the COREPER level (the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU), the Hungarian side gave the "green light" to the negotiating positions on:
- Cluster 2 "Internal Market,"
- Cluster 3 "Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth."
Sybiha also thanked his Hungarian counterpart Anita Orbán for the teamwork, which "is at once in the interests of our friendly nations and of a strong Europe."
Earlier, a bill introducing the status of a "national minority school" was registered in the Ukrainian Parliament.
This is one of Budapest's demands in exchange for a promise not to block Ukraine's path toward European integration.
Hungary may also stop blocking the opening of new negotiating clusters for Ukraine. However, Budapest has set Kyiv a condition related to the rights of national minorities.
