Ukraine hosts Iceland: Schedule and location for World Cup 2026 qualifier

The Ukrainian national football team will play a nominal home match in the qualification for the 2026 World Cup against Iceland in Warsaw. This game will occur on November 26. It will be the final match for the blue-and-yellow team in the first round of qualifiers, reports the official UEFA website.

According to UEFA's official website, the match between Ukraine and Iceland will be held at a stadium in Warsaw. The game is part of the sixth round of qualification. In the first leg, which takes place on October 10, the teams will play at Iceland's home stadium.
Ukraine began its qualifying campaign on September 5 with a home game against France in Wroclaw. The national team will play all three nominal home matches in this qualification round under coach Serhiy Rebrov in Poland. After the game with France, the team will also host Azerbaijan in Krakow.
Head-to-head history
The last meeting between Ukraine and Iceland was in the Euro 2024 qualifying playoff final. The "Blue and Yellow" won 2-1, with goals scored by Viktor Tsyhankov and Mykhailo Mudryk.
This will be Ukraine's first nominal home match in Warsaw. Previously, the team faced Poland twice in this city in away games, including a 3-1 victory in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
Ukraine is forced to play home matches outside the country due to Russia's full-scale invasion and UEFA security rules, which prevent games from being held on Ukrainian territory.

In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, teams are divided into 12 groups of four. Only group winners advance directly to the final tournament. Teams finishing second will compete in a playoff for a place in the tournament.
