Ukraine hits Tyumen oil refinery 2,000 km inside Russia in massive distance strike

Ukrainian Armed Forces hit the Tyumen oil refinery, one of Russia's largest private plants, located roughly 2,000 kilometers inside Russia, according to Bloomberg.
Based on the statement, Tyumen region governor Aleksandr Moor said emergency crews were working at the site. He stated that the plant was not damaged and that workers were evacuated.
Why this refinery matters
The Tyumen refinery processes about 151,000 barrels of crude oil per day and is an important supplier of fuel to Russia's domestic market.
Fuel crisis in Russia
The attack comes amid a growing fuel shortage in Russia. According to EA Analytics, oil refining rates in the country fell in June to their lowest level in 20 years.
Several southern regions have officially reported gasoline shortages, and after strikes on the Moscow refinery, residents of the capital have faced rising fuel prices.
On Saturday, June 20, several airports in the Ural region temporarily suspended operations due to drone attacks.
Notably, just this week, the Moscow refinery in Kapotnya was hit twice during the most intense attack on the Russian capital since the start of the war.
Due to a critical decline in petroleum product reserves, the Kremlin has allowed refineries to produce lower-quality fuel with reduced environmental standards.
Fuel rationing has begun at gas stations across Russia. For example, Tatneft has limited gasoline sales to 30 liters per purchase.
Previously, Ukrainian drones had already reached the Syzran refinery, more than 800 kilometers from the border. The strike on the Tyumen plant pushed that range a further 1,200 kilometers deeper into Russia.
