Drones operated by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) struck fighter jets at the Saky airbase for the second time this week. The drones also hit hangars at the Hvardiiske airbase in occupied Crimea, citing the SBU report.
At the Saky airbase, seven aircraft storage hangars were hit. They housed Su-30SM, Su-30, and Su-24 fighter jets and frontline bombers. According to preliminary information, at least seven aircraft were destroyed or damaged.
This was the SBU's second strike on the Saky airbase this week as part of its 40-day campaign against Russia.
At the Hvardiiske military airbase, two hangars storing Shahed drones and aviation equipment were hit.
The Saky and Hvardiiske military airbases are among the key aviation bases Russian forces use in Crimea.
They are regularly used by tactical aviation aircraft that carry out missile and bomb strikes on Ukrainian territory and support Russian forces operating on the southern front.

40-day campaign against Russia
On June 26, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Security Service of Ukraine had launched a 40-day campaign against Russia aimed at compelling it to end the war.
All SBU strikes carried out since that day are part of this large-scale operation.
Overnight on July 1, SBU drones struck hangars containing Russian fighter jets at the Saky military airbase in occupied Crimea.
Five successful drone hits on hangars storing aviation equipment were confirmed.
According to preliminary information, two of the hangars housed Su-30 and Su-30SM fighter jets at the time of the strike.
Following the attack, a fire was recorded in the hangar where the Su-30SM was located, indicating a successful strike on the target.
