Ukraine expects important decisions on air defense at Ramstein - Foreign Ministry

Ukraine is carefully preparing for the next meeting in the Ramstein format. Over 2022-2024, Ramstein has proved its effectiveness, says Heorhii Tykhyi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“Of course, we are also preparing for the Ramstein meeting. We consider the Ramstein to be an effective mechanism, an effective format that has proven its effectiveness over the years 2022-2024. Therefore, it is good that it continues to function,” Tykhyi said.
In his opinion, what is more important in Ramstein is the kind of assistance countries provide to Ukraine, not who is in charge.
“We welcome that the British have now taken on this role of convening the Ramstein. As for the American side (whether a US representative will be present at the Ramstein - ed.), I think it is better to leave these announcements to them. Let them make the decision, let them announce their participation, let them know how it will go,” the spokesperson said.
According to him, decisions on strengthening Ukraine are expected at the upcoming meeting. It's going to be about air defense and investments in Ukrainian weapons production.
Ramstein meeting
The day before, it became known that the UK was convening another meeting in the Ramstein format. The meeting will be held at NATO headquarters in Brussels on February 12.
The previous meeting in the Ramstein format took place on January 9, 2025. This was before Donald Trump officially took office as President of the United States. At the time, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured that the issue of continuing the Ramstein format had not been raised.
Also, according to media reports, the new US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is likely to attend a meeting of the contact group on Ramstein's assistance to Ukraine.
