Ukraine cuts secure telephone line with Moscow
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has terminated the direct secure telephone line between Kyiv and Moscow, which had been in place since 1998, announced Taras Melnychuk, the Permanent Representative of the Cabinet of Ministers to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament - ed.).
The website of the Verkhovna Rada contains Resolution No. 156 "On the Conclusion of an Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on the Organization of a Direct Secure Telephone Line between Kyiv and Moscow" dated February 16, 1998.
"The Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on the Organization of a Direct Secure Telephone Line between Kyiv and Moscow, signed in Moscow on February 27, 1998, has been terminated," Melnychuk wrote.
In 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers terminated the agreement between Ukraine and Russia on coordinating railway transport activities.
Termination of agreements with Russia and Belarus
In August last year, Ukraine terminated several agreements with Russia, Iran, Belarus, and Syria.
Additionally, at the end of October, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed to the Parliament the termination of the consular agreement between Ukraine and Russia. The corresponding draft law has already been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.
