President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed two decrees implementing the decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on sanctions against Russia, according to the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

The first decision concerns the coordination of sanctions with the United Kingdom. Restrictions have been imposed on eight individuals and 40 legal entities.

This includes citizens of Russia, Azerbaijan, Singapore, and New Zealand linked to the forced deportation and re-education of Ukrainian children, as well as the supply of electronics and dual-use components to Russia used in the production of missiles and drones that strike Ukrainian cities and communities.

Among the legal entities are companies from Russia, Hong Kong, the UAE, Thailand, Turkey, India, and Singapore that help Russia circumvent international sanctions and supply industrial machinery, aviation equipment, components for Shahed drones, computer chips, and other microelectronics for the Russian defense industry.

Some of these companies are also involved in Russia's energy sector, the import of Russian oil, and the operation of the so-called shadow fleet.

It is noted that this year Ukraine has coordinated 14 sanctions packages with partners: two with the US, two with the UK, eight with the European Union, and one each with Canada and Japan.

The second decision concerns support for proposals submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers, the implementation of sanctions in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, and the decisions and regulations of the EU Council regarding the situation in South Sudan.

Sanctions have been imposed on eight individuals from the military leadership of South Sudan. They are involved not only in ongoing hostilities and obstructing peace negotiations but also in acts of violence against women and children, including killings, torture, rape, abductions, and attacks on hospitals, schools, and churches.

Among them are the commander of the armed forces, the head of the presidential guard, and the chief of the general staff.

Ukraine's sanctions against Russia

In December, Ukraine imposed sanctions on nearly 700 tankers from Russia’s shadow fleet, which transports sanctioned Russian oil in violation of international restrictions.

In September, Ukraine introduced new personal sanctions against individuals and companies supporting Russia's military-industrial complex, shadow fleet, and energy sector.

Ukraine has also fully synchronized this year's sanctions with Canada, covering 139 individuals and entities contributing to Russia's war effort, including relatives of Vladimir Putin.

Last week, President Zelenskyy announced several new sanctions packages targeting Russians and their partners for supporting the war against Ukraine. These new restrictions will be implemented before the end of the year.
