Ukraine condemns Manchester synagogue attack: 'Terror will never prevail'

Ukraine strongly condemns the attack on a Jewish synagogue in Manchester on the holy day of Yom Kippur, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote about this on Twitter (X).
"Following a brutal attack on a synagogue on Yom Kippur, Ukraine expresses solidarity with the United Kingdom, the city of Manchester, and Jewish communities throughout the United Kingdom," Sybiha wrote.
He noted that Ukraine strongly condemns any acts of antisemitism and violence.
"Terror will never prevail over our shared values and unity," the foreign minister emphasized.
Attack on a Jewish synagogue in Manchester
On the morning of October 2, an unknown assailant attacked a group of people near the Heaton Park synagogue in a Manchester suburb. Four people were injured in the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, the attacker first drove into the crowd with a car and then attacked people with a knife. Police arrived at the scene promptly and opened fire on the suspect.
The suspect was injured and is currently under medical supervision.
Police are treating the incident as a terrorist attack.
The attack occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish religious calendar.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reacted to the incident, saying he was shocked by the attack on the synagogue and that the fact it happened on Yom Kippur made it "even more horrific."
