Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Brigadier General Oleksandr Pivnenko says in an interview with the BBC that Ukraine is ready to fight for several more years, but any military action for the sake of territory and resources must end.

"We can still fight for several years, 100%. But I believe that wars should end in general. In general, on this planet and in general, killing people for territory and resources is something we find very incomprehensible. It must end," Pivnenko says.
At the same time, the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine is confident that Ukrainians are tired of full-scale war.
"Everyone wants the war to end. But the main question for us is at what cost? Either it's a ceasefire, which I think everyone will agree to. And then a rethinking of further actions and agreements. Or the loss of territory. Let's just say that we will not give anything away, I am sure," the brigadier general adds.
Security guarantees needed to end war
Ukraine is conducting trilateral negotiations with the US and Russia for a quick and fair end to the war. Despite progress, there are still a number of unresolved issues, including territorial ones.
At the same time, Ukraine and its partners are working on security guarantees that should come into effect in the event of a new Russian invasion.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that specific security guarantees for Ukraine could create conditions for setting a clear date for ending the war, which is not only taking place on Ukrainian territory but also poses a threat to the whole of Europe.
At the same time, according to a new poll, Ukrainians are increasingly less confident that the war with Russia will end soon. Only one in five hopes for an end by mid-2026.
