Ukrainian and US officials will continue talks on a peace plan. They are set to take place as early as this weekend, Axios informs.
An unnamed US official told the outlet that the talks will take place "somewhere in the United States, could be Miami."
He clarified that working groups and military personnel will participate in the discussions. "Map reviews" are planned.
The Axios source did not provide further details. It is also still unknown who will represent Ukraine and the US in the talks.
Ukraine–US talks
Ukrainian and US officials have been discussing the US peace plan in Berlin for a second day.
US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said yesterday, December 14, that there had been "significant progress" during the talks.
At the same time, Western media, citing sources, reported that US officials at the talks had demanded that Ukraine give up the part of the Donetsk region currently controlled by Ukrainian forces.
Today, December 15, an unnamed US official said that during the talks, Ukraine and the US managed to agree on "90%" of all issues raised during the meeting.
The most difficult issue to resolve remains the question of territories. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already confirmed that the positions of the two countries do not yet align.
The head of state also noted that he does not consider the US to be making demands of Ukraine in the talks. According to him, everything is perceived as Russia’s demands for ending the war.
