Russia strikes train in Ukraine's Kharkiv region: Casualties and fire reported

Russian troops attacked a Kharkiv–Izium train in the Kharkiv region with a Shahed drone. Russian strike caused a fire and resulted in casualties, according to the Izium City Council and the chairman of the board of Ukrainian Railways, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi.
Russia attacked the train around 10 a.m. Kyiv time on September 9.
A Russian Shahed-type drone struck the rear of the Kharkiv–Izium train at a railway station near the village of Iskra. A fire broke out after the strike.
Seven people, railway workers and passengers, sustained shrapnel wounds, most of which were minor. Emergency medical teams are on the scene, providing the necessary assistance to the victims.

According to Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, head of Ukrainian Railways, the train had stopped for an evacuation at the time of the Russian strike, so staff and passengers were spared the worst. However, debris was scattered over a wide area.
Russian troops are systematically attacking civilian railway infrastructure and passenger trains in the Kharkiv region. In late August, a drone strike on a station in the Lozova district, where a train had stopped to evacuate people, killed 2 women and injured 5 others.
Earlier, in March, a Russian drone struck a commuter train traveling from Slatyne to Kharkiv, killing a 61-year-old passenger. Such attacks on the region's railways are reported regularly.
