Ukraine and Lithuania have signed a memorandum regarding the joint production of drones, ammunition, and electronic warfare (EW) systems, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

Umerov announced that the Minister of National Defense of Lithuania, Arvydas Anušauskas, arrived in Kyiv today for a visit.

"Together with my Lithuanian colleague and the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Herman Smetanin, we signed a document aimed at strengthening our defenders on the battlefield: a Memorandum on cooperation in the defense industry," the Defense Minister wrote.

The memorandum specifically outlines plans for the joint production of drones and their components, ammunition, and components, as well as EW systems, and the development of advanced technologies.

During the meeting, specific pathways for deepening cooperation were also discussed. Topics included plans for 2025 aimed at increasing military assistance to Ukraine.

Ukrainian intelligence officials provided detailed information to their Lithuanian partners regarding the current situation on the front. The parties analyzed the Russian plans for the fall and winter.

"Today we see how Russia is receiving assistance from dictatorial regimes, including the involvement of manpower from North Korea. However, I am convinced that with reliable partners like Lithuania, we will overcome the aggressor," Umerov said.

Lithuania's assistance to Ukraine

In August, Lithuania announced a significant military assistance package for Ukraine, which will include, among other things, short-range air defense systems, armored personnel carriers, and anti-drone measures.

Later, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said that Lithuania plans to transfer more than 5,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of autumn.

Recently, it was also reported that Lithuania intends to provide additional assistance to Ukraine amounting to 40-50 million euros by the end of the current year. So far, Vilnius has already sent 153 million euros in assistance to Kyiv in 2024.
