Lithuania to deliver over 5,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of fall, says PM
Lithuania plans to provide Ukraine with more than 5,000 drones by the end of the fall, as part of military assistance, says Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė at a press conference with the presidents of Ukraine and Poland in Kyiv.
A new package of assistance to Ukraine from Lithuania will arrive shortly. It will include 10 short-range air defense systems, anti-drone and other equipment, and ammunition.
“Besides, we are allocating 35 million euros to purchase radar and demining equipment for Ukraine. By the end of the fall, we hope to provide more than 5,000 Lithuanian-made drones,” said Šimonytė.
She added that the Lithuanian government had pledged to spend 0.25% of its GDP annually to help Ukraine.
“My government will not only ensure it but also exceed this plan,” the Lithuanian PM said.
Lithuania's assistance to Ukraine
Lithuania recently announced a large military aid package for Ukraine, which will include, among other things, short-range air defense systems, armored personnel carriers, and anti-drone weapons.
In June, Lithuania handed over 14 M113 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine as part of a coalition to help with mine clearance.
In April, Lithuania sent M577 armored personnel carriers, air defense systems, ammunition, and other military equipment and ammunition.
